Biography

Timofey Abel was born in Moscow, Russia, and immigrated to New York City at the age of seven as a political refugee. Drawn to creative expression from an early age, he explored painting, music, cinematography, and literature before discovering 35mm street photography at sixteen. Having traveled to more than thirty countries before adulthood, he developed a deep sensitivity to culture, history, and diversity—all of which define his visual language today.

What began as documentary street work evolved into portrait and fashion photography after his move from South Florida to South Carolina. His imagery is known for its emotional depth, intimacy, and restraint. “The story behind a photograph matters more than the photograph itself,” he says—a belief that defines his approach to both subject and form.

After being profiled in Rough Draft Atlanta for “lighting the way for Atlanta’s next creative wave,” Abel was featured in the Professional Photographers of America magazine with a two-page spread titled “Timelessness,” highlighting his classical yet modern approach.

Today, Abel continues to exhibit both locally and internationally, collaborating with refined brands, artists, and agencies that value authenticity and vision. Through his masterclasses and cultural events, he explores photography’s influence on identity, emotion, and collective memory.

Based in Atlanta, GA, and at twenty-one, Timofey Abel stands at the intersection of art and truth—creating work that captures the humanity within timelessness.
